As an implementing partner of the EU-funded Lebanon Innovate programme, led by Berytech, the Industrial Research Institute (IRI) through ELCIM has been working to strengthen Lebanon’s innovation ecosystem by supporting universities in transforming research into impact.
At the core of ELCIM’s contribution to the programme is the establishment and strengthening of Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs) across six Lebanese universities. These offices serve as a bridge between academic research and market needs, helping researchers identify opportunities to protect, develop, and commercialize their innovations while fostering stronger links between academia and industry.
Through Lebanon Innovate, ELCIM has also supported knowledge exchange and international collaboration by organizing two international soft-landing missions. These missions connected innovation communities in key sectors, including health, agrifood, and ICT, with international business innovation centres, creating opportunities for networking, knowledge transfer, and future partnerships.
Operating in a challenging context marked by ongoing instability in Lebanon, the programme demonstrated adaptability and resilience. Through coordination, flexibility, and commitment from all partners, Lebanon Innovate continued to advance its objectives and support innovation-driven initiatives across the country.
As part of the programme’s achievements, ELCIM at IRI contributed to launching two university innovation grants in the fields of agrifood and energy, in collaboration with the Ministry of Technology and Artificial Intelligence. These initiatives further strengthened the capacity of universities to develop solutions addressing societal and economic challenges.
Through its partnership in Lebanon Innovate, ELCIM continues to contribute to building sustainable structures, partnerships, and knowledge networks that will support Lebanon’s innovation ecosystem for years to come.
